TO PLAY STREET SCENE SEPTEMBER 7, 2003

The
wait is over! R.E.M.
have finally announced their North American tour plans
for this year - the first time the band has played the
States since 1999. The 26-date tour will include a mix
of festival appearances including Street Scene,
it will be R.E.M.'s first area performance since a 1995
show at the San Diego Sports Arena. The tour begins a
few weeks before the Sept. 30 release of R.E.M.'s first
"Best Of" album, which will also include two
new songs. The tour will feature three of R.E.M.'s four
founding members – singer Michael Stipe, guitarist
Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills, along with several

the streets of downtown San Diego will celebrate its 20th
annual music festival on September 5, 6, and 7 (the weekend
after Labor Day).
